1.1: Volunteer management in the Wadden Sea World Heritage: How the potential of former volunteers can continue to be harnessed for the region
Mon, 28 Nov. 2022 2:00pm
ATLANTIC Hotel
The workshop is given by Watt°N, the first self-organised volunteer network of a national park in Germany - by volunteers for volunteers. More than 850 volunteers meet here in their commitment to the protection of the Wadden Sea. The goals of the network, founded in 2015, are environmental protection, environmental education and the promotion of the biodiversity, diversity and natural dynamics of the Wadden Sea UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The workshop starts with a presentation of the work of Watt°N and the organisational structure of the network. Aspects of the decentral character of their work will be highlighted and insights into the network system will be given. In a next step the discussion will be opened for an interactive workshop. Watt°N is especially interested in the communication with the two other countries Denmark and the Netherlands. Together we will work out, which are similar structures between all three countries of the Wadden Sea region and analyse if some aspects of the Watt°N network are transferable to the framework conditions in Denmark and the Netherlands.
